Unity Clause

The title of this page has a specific purpose: To create a Clause or full Section in any and all groups or organizations constitution or bylaws claiming in their title the word and association to being "Socialist" that they will agree to Unity based on certain planks, points, issues, and so on for the greater movement.

To date not one point or suggestion has been made and most clique have bully pulped membership into factionalistic camps. We now wish to hear from you, the socialist without a factional, party, caucus, tendency, pac. What do you think should be things all will agree on?

This page will serve as a listing. All topics can be taken to the forums, chat, or email exchanges. Best wishes and best of luck in this heated area.

Plank one: name your main topic
  1. name your subtopic
  2. name your next subtopic, etc.

"Soc"

What is "Soc?"

It is the short form of "socialist party" during the early American campaigns. Long before the events in Russia (1905 - 1917) and most of eastern Europe after World War II when communism (democratic centralism) and national socialism (Nazi) hit the scene, during the twentieth century, socialists ran united campaigns and did greater public works. This was a time of ideologues, as well, who in took the name revolution in vain towards deeds of hate and mistrust. Even today they act out their mirrored remains of each other. Nether are socialist in actuality. We must bring back Soc into the 21st century to it's former grandeur.

Today in the United States of America the average socialists faces an alphabet soup of ideologue parties and factional groups i.e. SPUSA, SWP, CPUSA, SDUSA, SLP, and many others. If and when these so called and self-proclaimed socialists get their act together there will once again be the unity of Soc. The old proverb states: "The journey of 1,000 miles begins with the first step." By creating a Section in each Constitution and/or Bylaws with Clauses for or towards unity help take that much needed first step. Then making this public on their respective website to membership is the second step. This is far from hand holding and walking the same path. It is a starting place.

When Soc was the mainstay of socialism in the USA it had great successes and had actual Socialists in office making real changes. The historical facts state that many of the two party system feared socialism and tried every trick in the book to keep many duly elected from office which made several court cases in New York law. All we need today are those who are willing to agree to a few planks to not divide the whole (say five to ten) and run under statewide campaigns using Soc to show your personal unity with the greater movement.

The following is the current Unity Statement put out by the Peace and Freedom Party (California):

Peace and Freedom Party Unity Statement from their open meeting call

Unity Statement, as adopted August 9, 2009 by the National Organizing Continuations Committee (NOCC)

We agree that the Republican and Democratic parties through which the United States ruling class and its corporations exercise political power do not and cannot represent the working people of our country. The interests of working class people require that these parties be challenged from the left by an independent party based in the working class.

It is our intention to form a multi-state multi-tendency non-sectarian electoral organization committed to democracy, socialism, feminism, environmentalism and racial equality. We oppose discrimination based on sexual and gender orientation, immigration status, and all other barriers used to divide us. We oppose all U.S. wars, occupations and interventions. We seek broader ballot access for left candidates and campaigns.. We support and actively help fight for a democratic and militant union movement.

Our immediate goal is to qualify for the ballot a broad national slate of candidates for the Senate and the House of Representatives, as well as other offices, in the 2010 elections. We expect this work to further the goal of bringing a left alternative to the voters nationwide, to represent the struggles of working people and all the exploited and oppressed for improved conditions and for real power over their own lives and the future of our country. We see this electoral initiative as being directly linked to organizing struggles in the workplaces, schools, and communities.

Let them know you support their call for unity. Also contact your group or organization to ask where your unity statement is with the center-left. If they don't have an answer we have one here and it is free in many ways.

An early advertisement from a student organizer of socialism before he was popular once wrote, "Ying goes the cry of a bird in search of his companion's voice." The name of his study group - in 1915 - was New People's Study Society (NPSS). That young man later became the leader of his nation and formed his own brand of socialism away from Marx or Lenin and brushed off Stalin in a face to face meeting. His name was Mao Zedong.

Where are you uniting for a cause? And how will you be remembered?
